- Canal Winchester Shopping Center Announces Expansion Plans
- Columbus, Ohio — Casto, one of the country's leading real estate organizations, today announced the sale of 11.3 acres to Home Depot USA, Inc., a Delaware corporation. The new Home Depot will be situated at the north end of the center (on the site of the former Ames department stores) that is strategically located at the northwest corner of US-33 and Gender Road in Canal Winchester, Ohio. Home Depot intends to begin construction later this month on the 130,000 square foot home improvement center with an anticipated opening by late fall. The 132,000 square foot center is already anchored by Kroger and includes Hallmark, Blockbuster and other national and regional based tenants. Outparcel tenants include Bob Evans, McDonald's, Arby's and a new 3,000 square foot KFC/Long John Silver that is projected to open by year end. Plans are also underway to add 25,000 square feet of additional retail space between Kroger and the new Home Depot. Upon the opening of Home Depot and the new retail space, the overall center and outparcels will total approximately 270,000 square feet.
