Associate Spotlight: Kevin Kallstrom

At CASTO, our associates are the backbone of our operations. In this month’s spotlight, we’re thrilled to introduce you to one of the dedicated members of our team, Kevin Kallstrom. Kevin plays a crucial role on our Commercial Leasing and Development team. Based out of our corporate headquarters in Columbus, his contributions have been pivotal in securing tenants at multiple shopping centers across Ohio and Florida.

Tell us about your background with CASTO.

I started with CASTO 6 years ago in the Florida office working with the Development/Leasing group. After being there for close to a year, there was a leasing position that opened in the Columbus office, and like Lebron, my wife and I jumped at the opportunity to come back home to Ohio and raise our kids. For the past 5 years, I have worked closely with our amazing leasing team.

What do you like best about CASTO? What makes CASTO different?

It’s hard to put into words what CASTO means to me, but I’ll give it a shot. I have never worked for a company like CASTO before, where your voice is heard beginning on day one. There is a sense of community and ownership, and I have never felt like a needle in a haystack here. The work I do is fun: I get to help business owners either start or continue their dream. CASTO allows me to be myself in my work and have a ton of fun.

What project have you liked working on the most while at CASTO?

NorthRidge Crossing in Westerville. I take extreme pride in all the shopping centers that CASTO allows me to assist leasing efforts in, but NorthRidge is my favorite as it’s the closest center to my home. My kids and family get a huge kick out of seeing my name on the sign out front every day.

Share a little bit about your expertise in the industry.

I am still relatively new in the real estate industry with just about 6 years. Prior to joining CASTO, I moved 4 times in 5 years for sales/account executive roles at PepsiCo & Kellogg’s. My prior jobs helped me understand that I love being in sales and I love helping businesses. I love what I do here and will continue to learn and ask questions to further my expertise! Looking forward to a great 2024!

What changes or trends do you see happening in your area of expertise?

Unique deal structures seem to be my style of deals here recently. I recently worked with Soccer Village at Avery Square in Dublin where they moved from a 2,400sf space to a former Tuesday Morning space which is over 9,000sf. We ended up helping the Soccer Village build a small soccer field within their retail sales area! Its true in every deal, but no deal can get done without the help of everyone here at CASTO, including but not limited to our construction, asset management, property management and legal teams!
