River & Rich Announces First Tenant – ROY G BIV Gallery For Emerging Artists

Feb 27, 2018

Columbus, OH – CASTO announced today that it has signed its first tenant, ROY G BIV Gallery for Emerging Artists, at its mixed-use project River & Rich in Columbus’ East Franklinton neighborhood.

“We understand the importance art plays in Franklinton and we’re committed to making sure we do our part in keeping the neighborhood creative, vibrant and diverse. We believe ROY’s mission of supporting emerging artists through exhibition opportunities and education is aligned with our goals of bringing more art to the already bustling neighborhood,” said Brent Sobczak, President of CASTO Communities.

River & Rich inaugurated its commitment of bringing more art to Franklinton by commissioning 16 murals created by local artists, covering 400 feet of construction fences. Once completed, the project will also include large public murals and other various art and items produced by local Columbus artists and makers.

“River & Rich will be a significant contributor to arts and culture in Franklinton. Their commitment to ROY G BIV, especially, is evidence of this commitment. We are very excited to exhibit hundreds of emerging artists annually within our new gallery at River & Rich in Franklinton,” said J.D. Beiting, Board President of ROY G BIV.

ROY G BIV will occupy 2,048 square feet at River & Rich, more than doubling their current square footage is at their Short North Gallery.

“River & Rich offers an incredible opportunity for ROY G BIV. The new gallery will double the square footage of the current Short North location, which will in turn provide more exhibits and educational programming for emerging artists. ROY will add to the already established visual arts and culture institutions in Franklinton, like the Idea Foundry, 400 W. Rich, COSI, Vanderelli Room and Glass Axis, to name a few,” said Haley Kedziora, Gallery Director.

For over nearly 30 years ROY G BIV has been a fixture in both the Short North and Columbus’ arts scene. By moving the gallery to Franklinton, it will bring hundreds of emerging artists to the area. The new gallery is scheduled to open in fall 2018.
