CASTO Wins First Place in the 2020 SparkColumbus Fit City Challenge for Medium-Sized Companies

A huge congratulations goes out to the CASTO team for being the proud winner of the 2020 SparkColumbus Fit City Challenge in the medium-sized company categories! CASTO associates took home the gold for logging 123,650 active minutes over the course of 45 days!

The SparkColumbus Fit City Challenge is designed to help individuals and companies become fit and healthy leaders within the community, while participating in a friendly competition and encouraging positive change. Employees of Columbus businesses participated in the challenge by using the Spark360 app to track daily fitness activity minutes, which can be  link to your Apple or Fitbit watches.

This year’s challenge ran from September 1 through October 15. Companies were ranked into three size categories — small (2-99 employees), medium (100-499 employees), and large (500+ employees) and employees’ minutes counted toward the company total. Individual participant minutes also rolled up into Columbus’ overall totals where participants could see how Columbus was comparing to other cities in the U.S. competing in its own FitCity Challenge including Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton and Pittsburgh. Out of the six participating cities, Columbus had the most companies register with a total of 112 companies and nearly 1,000 employees. Columbus was third runner up in the most active minutes, behind Pittsburgh (No. 1) and Cleveland (No. 2). Not to brag, but Columbus nailed it! In total, Columbus businesses logged more than 1,430,000 minutes.

Columbus was introduced to this interactive challenge through Move with the Mayor™ that encourages residents to protect and improve their health and to make their communities more active and accessible. In 2020, mayors used the Move with the Mayor™ messaging, policy recommendations and other tools to empower and protect community members from COVID-19 and improve cardiovascular health and health equity.

Individuals and employers won prizes, and of course the top company in each size category got annual bragging rights! Amazing prizes from this year’s sponsors include: a year’s worth of Vionic shoes, subscriptions a yoga-streaming subscription called YogaIs, and gift certificates for RYU clothing brands were awarded to the individual winners. Companies in first place received a free 15 second commercial courtesy of ABC 6.
